The Research on Costal Erosion of Qinhuangdao and the Suggestions of Prevention and Restoration

Many research works since 1980's confirmed that the shore of Qinhuangdao suffered intense coastal erosion,which is threatening the sustainable development of the economy and ecology of the region,and so to which should be paid a great attention.There are many causes for the coastal erosion of the region,and among which the most important one is the reduced sands supply due to the construction of reservoirs on upper rivers and the sands quarrying in riverbeds. The appropriate measures should be enlarge silt discharge from reservoirs and reduce or prohibit quarrying sands in riverbeds as well as building some engineering to prevent or restore coastal erosion and set up an exquisite monitoring system to observe the change of the coastal area.
