Conservation and rehabilitation on urban core historic site

Due to the globalization trend modernity clashes rapid urban sprawl urban renewal real estate development and an upward spiral of economic expansion most historic cultural blocks of the city central areas in China currently confront these issues how to preserve cultural values and enhance unique sense of place and local features. In view of conservation efforts in urban central areas are often frustated by the complexity of land use issues tangled politics sustainable management and assessment and balance between costs and benefits of preservation this paper firstly discusses theories and methods of contemporary conservation and reveals negative effects improper attitude and tendency development principles in conservation-based development. With respect to protection conservation and enhancement of cultural heritage the just-in-time rehabilitation as the approach is particularly presented to reconcile interdisciplinary challenge and accordingly adapt and ameliorate urban functions and allocation of resources into appropriate conditions.
