Urban planners are facing new challenges under the changing climate,it's imperative to make planning for population,land resources and other factors so as to mitigate the potential urban climate risks.The purpose of this paper is to consider how to deal with climate change and climate risk management into urban development.This paper explores the implications of the concepts of climate risks,disaster risk management and resilient city,and points out that it is imperative for Chinese cities to raise their awareness and capacity for managing the climate risks.This paper cites the cities with efforts of managing climate risks as examples to illustrate several key points to mainstream adaptation and climate risk management into urban planning,as well building a resilient city.
