Industrial Diversification:A Comparison of Small Economies in the World
比较澳门与卢森堡、冰岛、马耳他三个小型经济体，发现澳门产业多元化程度低的主因是博彩业一家独大，而非产业门类少，对澳门制定多元化政策有参考价值。
How to diversify Macau’s industries is a great concern for both the governments and scholars of Macau Special Administrative Region(SAR) and Mainland China.But until now there is no research that has compared Macau with other small economies in the world.This research has made up the gap by comparing Macau with three other small economies similar to Macau—Luxembourg,Iceland and Malta,using the theory and measures of industrial organization theory.By the measure of Entropy Index and Herfindahl Index,the research has confirmed the conclusion of scholars: Macau’s industrial diversification level is low.But the research also find that the main cause of low industrial diversification is not due to the fewer number of the industrial sectors of Macau,but the imbalanced distribution of its industrial sectors,i.e.the dominance of the gaming industry.The finding has very important implication for the government of Macau SAR in making industrial diversification policies.
