Abstract

For the sustainable development and growth of cities,the cruxes and symptoms of the problems of the urban residential area should be found out through an environmental evaluation mechanism to serve as the basis for the activation and regeneration of the urban residential area. The objectives of environmental diagnosis model are to help establish the sustainable urban planning strategies. First,to make a review of the relevant literatures both at urban residential area and environmental diagnosis model,to establish indicators,methods and records for the diagnosis of the urban residential area,making use of the method of logical reasoning to simplify and standardize the system of diagnosis indicators. By Watching,Sniff,Asking,and Test of 4 diagnosis methods and Safe,Health,Facilitation,Efficiency,Amenity,Ecology,and Environmental protection of 8 Programmers,to establish the diagnosis model for the sustainable urban residential area. The results of the study can provide to professionals for making City plan revision and for reference in the evaluation of the environment of the residential area,it can also provide to the residents to make an appraisal of the health condition of the environment of their residential area and for the reference of the governmental sector before infrastructure environment preparation. The contribution of the study is principally to construct an evaluation system of the environment of the urban residential area,which is based on the WHO's concept of healthy living environment and which response to the idea of perpetuity,enabling the evaluation of the quality of the urban residential area to be more in agreement with the needs of the trend of the times,so as to find out a direction for the strategy of the sustainable development of the urban residential area.
