Information flow and asymmetric information as key determinants for service and financial centre development: a case on socialist China
研究以中国为例,通过分析跨国公司总部选址,发现本地信息流和信息不对称是服务与金融中心发展的关键因素,且地理因素在互联网和全球化时代更为重要。
In China, the spatial effect of asymmetric information is effectively obvious, since most of the information sources are centralized on a few administrative and governmental bodies. The objective of this paper is to testify this postulation by using China as a study case. Based on the investigation on the locational factors as considered by the multi-national corporation, and the empirical investigation focusing on the regional distribution of corporate headquarters, this paper focuses on assessing the spatial effects of asymmetric information in foreign corporate headquarter location. The finding of this paper suggests that local information flow and asymmetric information are the key determinant for services and financial centre development; and more importantly, geography has even mattered more in this Internet and globalization age.
