The Significance of Establishing Urban Agglomerations of Different Levels Based on Location Quotient:Taking the Pearl River Delta Area as a Case

With the development of economic globalization and regional economic integration,using the way of regional cooperation to improve urban competitiveness became more effective.The pearl river delta area has built three levels of urban agglomerations to make resource sharing and advantage compensation,and obtained remarkable achievement.This paper calculated the location quotient of employed population in the three urban agglomerations,then analyzed the development trend of manufacturing sector,productive service sector and living service sector in different scales.The results verified the advantages and necessity of building urban agglomerations in different scales and provided evidence for the policy measures of regional cooperation.
