DISCUSSION ON THE URBAN SPECIAL FEATURE AND FUNCTION CLASSIFICATION OF THE CITIES IN THE SIX PROVINCES IN SOUTH-EAST CHINA
利用中国城市统计年鉴数据，通过因子分析和多变量分类法，对广东、广西、海南、福建、江西、湖南58个城市进行功能分类，分为制造业主导、科教文卫、交通建筑、采矿能源、服务消费5大类及15亚类。
Utilizing the statistic data of total urban population and urban employees as well as its industrial structure of the urban statistical yearbook of China ,this paper taking the urban basic economic activities as the confirming basis of the urban function,using methods of factor-analysis and multiple-variable classification ,the author gave the 58 cities a thorough research of urban functional classification which in the following 6 provinces in the south-east China: Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan. This paper is distributed into 4 parts: Firstly, the author discussed the main points of the classification methods, and got the percentage of the basic economic activities of each industries of the 58 cities with the method of Morre Regression Analysis; then distributed the 58 cities into different function groups according to the method of Main-factor classification. Secondly, this paper mainly discussed the confirmation of the urban-size and selection of industries on the basis of primal dealing with the original data. Thirdly, after a series of calculating process, this paper gave the 58 cities a thoroughly classification according to their mainly functions, and then distributed them into 5 types: manufacturing-dominating cities, scientific-high educational-cultural-hygienic-welfare cities, transportation and architecture growing cities,mining and energy production cities, and serving and consumption growing cities (major in businesses, servings and finance, etc); furthermore,the author re-classified the 5 types into 15 subtypes according to the differences of each types. Finally, the author appraised the classified consequence, discussed its problems and concluded the characteristics of the urban functional structure of the 58 cities.
