THE DEVELOPMENTAL COMPARISON BETWEEN THE PORTS OF FUJIAN AND TAIWAN
分析了福建和台湾的港口资源特征与发展现状，指出两地港口在地理、语言上的相似性，以及通过港口开发实现资源互补、促进经济繁荣的合作前景。
This paper analyzes the characters of the bay resources and developmental states of the ports in Fujian and Taiwan. There are many bays in Fujian coast. The bays go deep into the land and wiht big depth. Taiwan has long coastline and many ports. Fujian ports were exploited early but slowly. The port resources have great potentialities. Taiwan has pay attention to the exploitation of ports historically. Gaoxiong, Jilong, Hualian and Taizhong have been four international commercial ports, especially Gaoxiong port has been build into a big port of the world. Fujian and Taiwan have done business with each other since the Han Dynasty. The folk trade on the sea wasn't stopping, even then relations between the strait banks were strained. The physical geography conditions between Fujian and Taiwan are similar; their language is the same. This is a base of both economic cooperation. Fujian ports concentrate on the east bank, Taiwan ports concentrate on the west bank, both ports link up fast. The bay areas of Fujian are major ones of Taiwan businessmen investment. Now Fujian investment area, Xiamen investment area of Taiwan businessmen has been build, there will extend scale and will be build into industry areas near the sea. The author put forward that Fujian and Taiwan are mutual supply of resources. Both banks can achieve reciprocity in trade, mutual supply of resource, promoting economic prosperity, through exploiting the ports and playing role of neighbor, sea transportation.
