A PROBE INTO THE URBAN SPRAWL MODEL AND ITS DRIVE MECHANISM IN SHANGHAI

In the nearly past ten years,with the acceleration of urbanization in our country,China has already entered a steady developing stage of urbanization;the direct spatial conduct in the process of urbanization is spatial expansion in the city.Based on the analysis of the spatial dynamic procedure of urban sprawl,characters of each stage and its inherent drive mechanisms in Shanghai,the paper chooses its urban sprawl as case study,and four different stages are divided.Furthermore,it concludes,Shanghai would take on new basic frame one core,three rings,four sub-cores and nine-middle-towns.The paper discusses the spatial expansion model,its drive mechanism and existing problems in the urban sprawl.
