Abstract

The economic geography of media,in brief, is the pattern of media industry base on the administrative divisions. At present, the economic geography of media is imbalance due to it has highland and lowland. Many reasons have contribute to the imbalance, including historical and political reasons, especially the division of administrative areas. The division of administrative areas has brought administrative barrier and local protectionism and impeded the optimization of media resources. All of these enlarge the backwash effectof the highland,and reduce the spread effectof thehighland. The imbalance of the economic geography of media may destroy the activeness and creativity of the development of central and western areas. Meanwhile, that leads to negative influences on China's cultural industries. Therefore, the government should encourage the development of the media lowland by providing political, economical,and technical support in order to take scientific and harmonious development and promote socialist culture prosperity and development..
