STRUCTURAL DECOMPOSITION OF MANUFACTURING LABOR PRODUCTIVITY IN BEIJING AND TIANJIN METROPOLITAN REGION
使用拉斯佩耶斯指数分解法,将1997-2007年北京和天津制造业劳动生产率变化分解为丹尼森效应、鲍莫尔效应和纯生产率效应,发现纯生产率效应是主要驱动因素,并识别出通信设备、计算机等关键行业。
Manufacturing sectors play a very important role in the social and economic development,which directly determine the country’s international competitiveness and the position in the international division.In this paper,we choose the 29 manufacturing sectors as samplings and apply Laspeyres index decomposition method,which is commonly used in researchs of energy intensity decomposition,to analysis changes in aggregate manufacturing labor productivity in terms of Denison effect,Baumol effect and pure productivity effect,based on the data of industrial added value and labor input in Beijing and Tianjin from 1997 to 2007.In the research period,both Beijing and Tianjin manufacturing labor productivities were higher than the national average,the manufacturing labor productivity of Tianjin began to exceed that of Beijing after 2005.The structure decomposition results of aggregate manufacturing labor productivity changes in Beijing and Tianjin were basically the same: changes in manufacturing labor productivity in the Beijing-Tianjin region was mainly due to the pure productivity effect which result from differences of the labor productivity within manufacturing sectors;Denison effect was positive,that is,the industrial restructuring which caused from the flow of labors promoted the growth of the aggregate manufacturing labor productivity.Structural Bonus hypothesis has been proved to some extent,but not significant.Except that,both variance contribution rates and the regression results of the three components have also draw the same conclusion.Decomposed aggregate productivity changes for 29 manufacturing sectors indicated that changes in manufacturing labor productivity of Beijing and Tianjin are mainly due to industries with technology and scale oriented,such as communication equipment manufacturing,computers and other electronic equipment manufacturing,transportation equipment manufacturing,Smelting and pressing of ferrous metals,Raw chemical materials and chemical products.Finally,we concluded that manufacturing sectors between Beijing and Tianjin should promote inter-industry learning,imitation and technology flows,to promote other industries to improve labor productivities.In addition,Beijing-Tianjin Megalopolis manufacturing should take products and functional differences policies to improve areas’ competitiveness in the world manufacturing market,according to the city's own advantages.
