On the Formation and Governance of the American Metropolitan Mosaic in Post-suburban Era

Based on basic concepts of metropolitan space,the paper analyses the trend of the American metropolitan space in 1990's,which shows mosaic structure due to most of suburbs declining,population shifting to outer suburbs and rual and revival of some suburbs and central city's areas.Then,it probes into the reasons from housing and competition etc.Finally,it provides the policies of metropolitan regional governance,including setting up the organization of coordinating metropolitan development,introducing into new governance ideas,establishing integration regional planning and setting down relevant measures.
