MECHANISM STUDY OF AGGLOMERATION OF DEVELOPMENT-PRIORITIZED REGION:A CASE STUDY OF WUZHOU CITY OF GUANGXI PROVINCE

Development-Prioritized Region is an important region for undertaking the transfer of industries and industry agglomerating. By analysising the investment data from 2006 to 2009 in Wuzhou city, which is the provincal Development-Prioritized Region of Guangxi province, this paper finds that Wuzhou city undertakes the transfer of labor-intensive and resource-intensive industries, and these industries mostly relay on the local resource endowments, most of that come from Guangdong, Guangxi and Fujian and locate in industrial parks. By further analysising, we come to an inclution. Firstly, improvement of openness, enhancement of resource dependent between regions, and improvement of regional accessibility attrates resource-intensive industrial to agglomerate in Wuzhou city. Secondly, the rising cost in eastern region pushes industrial to relacate in western region, while western region has more relaxed environmental pressure. Thirdly, the lowest overall cost of the enterprise location is the dominant factors of industrial transfer at currently so that the local preferential policies can attract foreign investment. Therefore, industries agglomeration of Development-Prioritized Region is affecting by geographic feature attributes, comprehensive cost and industry characteristics.
