Abstract

The tourism destination is actually the place which can provide tourists with a cultural space determined by the cultural properties of tourism activities. A cultural study on this space will help to solve such problems as creating culture and creating landscape existing in tourism planning and development by clarifying the meaning of cultural space in tourism destinations and its evolution mechanism, and explore the cultural development rules of tourism destinations.Based on the principles of The Space Production and landscape ecology, as well as the living state of cultural space in tourism destinations, the time and function evolution of cultural space in tourism destinations is in fact an evolution process from the production and living space of original inhabitants to the production and living space which serve the tourism development. The cultural space in tourism destinations will form such basic spatial patterns as cultural landscape nodes, cultural axis, cultural venues, and cultural domains. Among them, the cultural venue, considered as the most important a spatial pattern, is a place for production, life and service in tourism destinations, reflecting the social and cultural relationship between people and tourism landscape.
