Intellectual Property Protection,Heterogeneous Firms and Innovation:Evidence from China's Manufacturing Enterprises
利用中国规模以上制造业企业数据，研究发现省级侵权活动水平对企业研发投入有显著负向影响，且政府惩罚只能部分抵消该效应；非国有企业和竞争更激烈行业的企业对知识产权保护更敏感。
This paper presents both theoretical and empirical study about how the level of intellectual property protection(IPP) would affect firms' innovation input,by using the data of China's above- scale manufacturing enterprises.The main finding of this paper is that the provincial level of infringement activities has a significantly negative effect on the RD input of firms,and such an effect could only be partly off- set by the government efforts in punishing the infringe activities.Moreover,the non- state- owned enterprises(compared to stated-owned enterprises) and firms in more competitive industries are found to be more sensitive to the status of IPP.Such findings suggest that the punishment afterwards and prevention in advance should be both taken by government to encourage firm's innovation.
