Some Viewpoints about the Role of Research Universities in the National S&T Development Strategy

Research universities play the most important role in the state ST development strategy. Initiative and independent researches depend upon initiative dynamics,favorable research environment and excellent talent resources. Modernization of Chinese research universities essentially shows progress of China modernization of science,technology and culture. Universities research leads the development of the state major projects facing global challenges in research and development (R-D),and requires fair competition,participation and evaluation. The faculty members of these universities must have high research qualification,always with new ideas,being active and sensitive to the academic advance of international communities. It also should pay enough attention to develop the research institutions and companies in universities,and promote cross-fusion among multi-disciplines.
