During the last two decades, the land use and land cover in China changed enormously. Based on Chinese Resources and Environment Database, this paper studied the spatial differentiation of new non-agricultural construction land of China in the 1990s. The results showed that the non-agricultural construction land increased about 17,627.57km~2, mainly located in the eastern and southeast China, at the cost of precise arable land resources with the percentage of 85.49%. Besides, this paper also analyzed the provincial differentiations of non-agricultural construction land during the 1990s. The correlation analysis of new non-agricultural construction land and some social-economical indicators identified that the infrastructure construction investment had the biggest influence on the increase of non-agricultural construction land.
