The clash between the inevitability of housing land spatial sprawl and the scarcity of urban land resource is becoming more acute today. How to improve people's living quality and realize the sustainable use of urban land resource has become a question that should be solved urgently. The paper concluded the characters of housing land spatial sprawl in cities, and analyzed the mechanism of housing land spatial sprawl in the four aspects of economic,institution,technology and intervene, and presented relative suggestion to the questions arising in the housing land spatial sprawl in cities.
