Abstract

The measurement system of the niche of regional tourism cities consisted of 4 dimensions of tourism resources, market, socio-economy and environment.It analyzed the temporal and spatial variation of urban tourism niche and their different dimensions in 15 years using niche trend model selected in 1996, 2001, 2006 and 2011 data,to investigate the influencing factors of changes in urban tourism niche trend.Results showed that with the development of various types of tourism resources and socio-economy and emphasis on protection of environment,17 cities in Shandong integrated tourism niche gaps continued to shrink, and formed a new development pattern.The cooperation- competing model of travel formed gradually in the eastern part of Shandong as core, and promoted the rapid development of the western region. In order to improve the regional tourism system sustainable development,it indicates that cities should adopt the measurements such as the niche separation, niche expansion etc. to improve the competition relation.
