The conception of scientific development is the advancement of sustainable development thoughts in China. The aspects of Five Unifications find themselves on different levels. The unification of coordinative development of man and nature is on the basic level and it controls the other unifications. There are three unifications on the operative level. They are the unification of urban and rural development, the unification of regional development, the unification of development within our country and opening to the world. The unification of economy and society is on the object-oriented level. Man-earth areal system is the core of geographical study. The theory of man-earth relationship is the basic theory of the conception of scientific development. Geography plays important roles in every aspect of Five Unifications. The geographical development has much significance in the fulfilling of the conception of scientific development.
