ECONOMIC GROWTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY:EVIDENCE FROM PROVINCIAL PANEL DATA IN CHINA
利用中国1991-2003年省级面板数据，检验了工业污染物与经济增长之间的环境库兹涅茨曲线关系，发现废水、废气、固体废物与经济增长呈倒U型关系，并分析了人口密度、外资和产业结构的影响。
The Environmental Kuznets Curve Hypothesis postulates an inverted-U shaped relationship between per capita income and different pollutants.Pollutants emission increases up to a certain level as income goes up;after that,it decreases.This paper investigates the relationship between industry pollutants and economic growth using province-panel data set from 1991 to 2003 in China.The result shows that there exists an inverted-U shaped relationship with waste water, waste gas,solid wastes and economic growth.After adding the variables of population density,foreign direct investment and industry,the results indicate that population density and foreign direct invest show different influence with different pollutant.But industry will worsen environment.Therefore,in order to improve environmental quality,it is the time to adjust industry structure.
