Preliminary Study on the Relationship Between the Collage of the Old City Area and Its Conservation and Renewal——based on analysis of the northwest part of old Shanghai city
从城市拼贴概念出发，以上海老城西北部为例，分析旧城区拼贴与历史的关系，提出保护更新应基于对拼贴的正确理解，并倡导小规模灵活更新。
This paper starts from the concept of city collage,and explains that the collage of a city's old area has direct contact with its history.Further analysis was done by the case study of the northwest part of old Shanghai city,which gives the conclusion of the relationship between the collage of the old city area and its conservation and renewal.The paper indicates that a city's conservation and renewal plan should based on the correct understanding of the collage of its old area,which considers the collage itself as the strongest characteristic.Elements that bring about the collage should also be analyzed according to the specific goal of the conservation and renewal plan.The author also advocates a flexible and adaptive way of urban renewal on a small scale.
