Research on the Impact of Land Supply on Urban Growth in China
基于2000-2006年200多个城市数据，研究发现工业用地供应促进城市经济增长但贡献随时间下降，住宅用地供应促进劳动力增长，对地方政府制定差异化供地计划有参考价值。
Land supply that provides the space of industrial activities and labor dwelling has an important impact on urban growth. With the quick development of industry and migration in China, the quantity and the structure of urban land supply have the different impact on the GDP, labor and productivity of cities. Based on more than 200 cities’ data from 2000 to 2006, an econometric model is established in this paper. The empirical study finds that the industrial land supply has a significant contribution to the urban economic growth, but the contribution is going down with time, while the contribution of technology and human capital grows fast. This empirical study also finds that the residential land supply has a positive effect to the urban labor growth. These results indicate that local governments should make the diverse land supply plan based on the industrial structure and labor demand in different cities.
