Design of Experiments with Both Mixture and Qualitative Factors

SUMMARY The paper establishes the conditions for D optimality of designs with mixture and qualitative factors. The solutions of the optimization problem for exact designs consist of several D-optimum designs: the one to be chosen can therefore also satisfy other optimality conditions. The problem of blocking of mixture experiments is also discussed.
