DELIVERY PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT: A CASE OF SECURE LOGISTICS PROVIDERS

Secure logistics provider is outsourcing logistics which focuses on valuable products. Delivery in Full on Time is the most concern, customers expect to receive the goods on time especially before noon (by the same date of flight arrival). KPI is set up at 95% effectiveness for morning flight arrival but unsuccessful. Project’s purpose is to improve delivery performance of shipment arrival before 7.30AM. Data of import shipment during January – December 2014 and January – April 2015 is used for study. Second is analyzing the current import process. Third is defining the factors which controllable and uncontrollable factors are found whereas controllable factors are being focused (Process import shipment and Sorting Skill). To eliminate these factors, shipment consolidation is the first chosen alternative. By combining various shipments with various Master Air Way bill at origin into one, it helps reduce the time of process. Review and Revise training procedure is the second chosen alternative to improve the sorting skill. Implement period is May - December 2015 which effectiveness has been increased to 95%, compared to the same period in 2014 is 72% only. Overall performance in 2015 is 90%, it is showing that chosen alternatives are worked well as the result has changed to positive way.
