Abstract: Managers face demands from superiors, subordinates, and regulatory agencies. This puts managers in a stressful situation and the result can be stress-related illness. One of the largest management stressors is absence of autonomy. This can lead to stress-related illnesses including: headaches, hypertension, depression and nervous dyspepsia. By giving managers more autonomy, their performance, attitude, and health will improve.(mp)
