In the midst of historically low multifamily vacancies, a large supply wave of high-end apartments, and a national discussion of wealth inequality, multifamily conversations increasingly include housing affordability and the availability of affordable multifamily housing. The problem is that although there is much talk, there is no lingua franca. Definitions of the size, scope, and characteristics of the nonsubsidized affordable housing market do not exist.
