Craufurd Goodwin and Graduate Education
探讨克劳福德·古德温如何推动研究生教育改革,通过出版畅销书和发起全国性项目,帮助博士生适应不同学术机构的教职生活。
Craufurd Goodwin’s sense that the Graduate School was not adequately preparing its doctoral students for academic careers in a variety of institutions led to both a local and a national refocusing of efforts. The local effort produced a best-selling book, The Academic’s Handbook. The national effort culminated in the Preparing Future Faculty program involving some 300 schools across the country. Both were attempts to acculturate doctoral students to faculty life in different academic settings.
