SPATIAL ANALYSIS BASED ON MAJOR FUNCTION ORIENTED ZONING——A CASE STUDY OF GANSU PROVINCE

It is essential to divide the Main Functional Regions of territory space and identify the region units suitable for development or in need of protection in China for coordinating the relationship between human and nature and achieving sustainable development.Gansu province,located in the northwest of China,has large geospatial span,complicated and diverse spatial combination of geographical elements,and obvious contradictions between economic development and ecological protection.Employing nine aggregate indices that can reflect the carrying capacity of resource and environment,development density and potential of a region,we evaluate 83 county-level administrative districts in Gansu province with factor analysis method,and divide them into three main functional types: the development type,the middle type and the protection type,corresponding to key development region,restricted development region and prohibited region respectively.Spatial analysis shows that regional differentiation characteristics are obvious in Gansu,there are spatial autocorrelation and heterogeneity among the 83 evaluation units,and functional groups present the spheres structure of ladder changes spatially.This research provides a scientific basis for forming a distinctive pattern of regional development of Gansu province.
