The present study undertakes analysis of effects of employment probabilities and wage alternatives on migration decisions in context of Botswana adopting micro level data both [to estimate] a multinomial migration function and to develop prediction equations for wages and likelihood of employment.... Data are from 1978-1979 National Migration Survey. The factors that influence rural Batswana adults to remain at home migrate to town on a short- or long-term basis move to another rural area or emigrate to South Africa are examined. Consideration is given to the effects of employment alternatives on rate of internal migration and selectivity of movements with respect to personal household and locational factors.... (EXCERPT)
