Abstract

Do British Employment Judges consider that they are paid a reasonable salary for the work that they do? Would they leave the judiciary if it was a viable option? Does their job give them a sense of achievement? Answers to these, and other questions, are revealed in a new survey that enables comparison over time and comparison with other categories of judicial postholders. Importantly, the 2020 Judicial Attitude survey1 shows that Employment Judges were less satisfied than most other judicial postholders in respect of their career opportunities and the standard of IT equipment in court. Yet the survey also shows the Employment Judges’ views were very similar to those of other judicial postholders in that they had a high level of satisfaction with the challenge of their job.
