Abstract

In this paper the results of recent research experience of the PIMS program are presented. The fact is that PIMS program is significant empirical research tool in the field of strategic management. Paper discussion is based on the most extensive strategic data base in the world. The focus is on the complex analysis of the impacts of various variables on the strategic business units performance. Thus the impact of market share, investment intensity and various strategic alternatives on profitability is considered. The positive relationships between market share and profitability is especially important. A large body of findings in PIMS program are based on the use or multiple linear regression ana1ysis.
