Abstract

The article presents a commentary on the paper “Rethinking Organizational Design,” by Robert W. Keidel. The author says there are specific reasons why organizations don't adopt rethinking strategies. The reasons include the fact that most U.S. managers are rewarded for being quick studies rather than deep thinkers, there is a constant and consistent emphasis on taking action to produce short-term results, and many employers view their employees as interchangeable. He says there needs to be proof that rethinking as organizational design strategy results in greater profits, lower operating costs, and more satisfied customers.
