EDITORS' NOTE
本文是《收入与财富评论》新编辑团队的就职说明,介绍了编辑团队、期刊范围、投稿流程变化及加快审稿速度的目标,适合关注该期刊的作者和读者了解最新动态。
As of August 2009, the editorial team of the Review of Income and Wealth consists of three Co-Editors and one Review Editor. The Co-Editors are Conchita D'Ambrosio (Università di Milano-Bicocca and DIW Berlin), Robert Hill (University of Graz) and Stephan Klasen (University of Göttingen). The Review Editor is Thesia Garner (Bureau of Labor Statistics). These editors have been appointed for a period of five years. The Editorial Office for the Review is located in EconPubblica at Università Bocconi, Milano, and is run under the supervision of Conchita D'Ambrosio. The aims and scope of the journal remain as before, focusing on all areas of research dealing with income and wealth issues. As a journal with an international readership, preference is given to (1) studies with methodological or measurement innovations, and (2) comparative analyses of more than one country. We also welcome shorter papers that make a more specific contribution to the research in income and wealth or provide substantive comments or extensions to previous work published in the Review. The journal will continue to publish broad review articles that are handled by our Review Editor as well as special or theme issues on particular subjects relevant to the scopes of the journal. Proposals for such theme or special issues can be made at any time to the Co-Editors. The new team apologizes for the significant delays in throughput time for many submissions that accumulated in the past few years. This was largely due to complicated and lengthy editorial processes, competing commitments of the Editors, and difficulties with obtaining timely referee reports. One of the main aims of the current team is to speed the process up considerably. As the new editorial team has been working together since mid-2008, the refereeing process has already sped up significantly. To further reduce processing times, starting August 1st 2009, the submission process is handled electronically via Editorial Express (see http://editorialexpress.com/roiw). All new submissions must be submitted there. Old dossiers will still be handled using the current system. In the interest of a timely turnaround, the editorial team reserves the right to reject papers they consider clearly unsuitable for publication in the journal without going through a formal refereeing process. Particular attention will be paid to clearing the remaining submissions inherited from the previous editorial team. The new editorial team would like to thank the departing editors (Bart van Ark, Managing Editor and Marcel Timmer, Associate Editor) as well as the Editorial Office in Groningen (Astrid van der Veen) for their hard work on the Review in the past few years. During that time, the Review has increased the number of pages, enlarged its readership, increased its visibility, and has risen sharply in rankings (including the Social Science Citation Index). It has also improved its financial position despite stable and competitive subscription prices (and falling prices for subscribers in developing countries). Special thanks go to Marcel Timmer who stepped in in 2007 to help with the Review when Bart van Ark reduced his involvement due to competing commitments. We also want to thank Andrew Sharpe for consistent professional support and the IARIW Council for the trust they place in the new editorial team.
