Abstract

The author discusses his experiences as editor of the “Academy of Management Review” journal from 1999 to 2002. The author acknowledges the winners of the 2001 Best Article Award and thanks individuals who have helped him in his post. The author states that his time as editor seems to have passed quickly, and that he has learned much about evaluating theory. The author claims that the journal has difficulty accepting papers that are outside the traditional social science realm of North America, and charges the journal with publishing a wider range of articles in order to further its utility. The author thanks the authors, editors, and reviewers that he has met during his tenure and offers a summary of editorial decisions in table form.
