Abstract This note disputes several observations made by James R. Evans' article, “An Efficient Implementation of the Wagner‐Whitin (WW) Algorithm for Dynamic Lot‐Sizing,” Journal of Operations Management , Vol. 5, No. 2, February 1985. By testing the algorithm within a micro‐based manufacturing resource planning (MRP) system, the writer of this note shows that WW is still computationally burdensome compared to heuristic methods, particularly within the context of a micro‐based MRP system implementation.
