The Winter of Our Discontent: The Design Challenge for Business Schools
以Adler对艺术在管理教育中作用的辩护为起点,探讨商学院如何通过更深入融入艺术与人文,重塑管理教育,应对复杂时代挑战。
Adler's (2006) defense of the arts in management education is the starting point for our consideration of debates about the nature of art and design and where they might lead business schools. We argue that the design challenge facing business schools is to create a more holistic view of management and management education, suited to our complex and difficult times, this “winter of our discontent,” and that this can be achieved by greater engagement with the arts and humanities. We suggest that we should rethink management education in terms of “narrative imagination” (focusing upon the language we use) and “dramatic rehearsal” (focusing upon drama and music) to challenge existing orthodoxies and to remake the business school as a more empathic, creative institution.
