Testing for Interaction in Multiply-Matched Case-Control Studies

The test for homogeneity of the relative risk in multiply-matched case-control studies of Ejigou & McHugh (1984) is shown to be simply derived and understood in terms of the traditional theory of Pearsonian chi-squared tests (Cramer, 1946, Ch. 30). For the doubly-matched case it is equivalent to the usual chi-squared test that an odds ratio in a 2×2 table with fixed marginal totals equals four.
