Policy Review Section
本期政策评论栏目包含三篇文章:反思地方政府委员会工作、分析1976-1992年英国旅游需求分布变化、探讨培训与企业委员会的资金策略政策影响。
In this issue of the Policy Review Section, Professor Michael Chisholm of the Department of Geography, University of Cambridge, and a member of the Local Government Commission until June 1995, gives his reflections on the work of the Commission to date. His focus is the wider questions which the exercise raises concerning the governance of the country. In the second article, Alan Pack, Ann Clewer and Thea Sinclair of the Department of Economics, University of Kent, examine the inter and intraregional distribution of tourism demand in the UK for the period 1976 to 1992. The results show a decrease in the interregional concentration with the greatest dispersal of demand from the London, the South and South East regions to the most geographically proximate areas, while the more peripheral regions experienced significantly lower increases in their share of demand. The third article, by Martin Jones of the School of Geography, University of Manchester, explores the policy implications of the funding strategy for Training and Enterprise Councils (TECs) adopted by the Department of Employment.
