Abstract

The need for a sustainable future and growing concerns about climate change have fuelled the global push towards adopting green energy. This research presents critical success factors (CSFs) contributing to adopting sustainable green energies. This paper outlines a portfolio of methodologies such as Exploratory Factor Analysis, Trade-off analysis, Evidential Reasoning Algorithm, Fuzzy Set Theory, and Expected Utility Theory for assessing the importance of the success factors of green energy. The study reveals that “Infrastructural Development,” “Research and development,” “Green practices for procurement,” and “Enabling advanced technologies” are some of the most important factors contributing to green energy adoption in India. Further, the study conducts a trade-off analysis to determine the importance and changing behaviors of CSFs. Studying factors of green energy adoption empowers managers to integrate sustainability and renewable energy goals into their organizations' strategic planning, enabling informed decision-making, effective resource allocation, and long-term sustainability. The results of the trade-off analysis bring out scenarios and the factors that require specific attention due to these unique scenarios.
