The Deconcentration of Major Suppliers and Corporate Green Innovation in the Context of Knowledge Diffusion: Moderating Effects of Trust and Human Capital Quality
研究发现企业主要供应商越分散,其后续绿色创新水平越高,且信任环境和人力资本质量会强化这一关系,为管理者推动绿色创新提供供应链视角的启示。
Enterprises increasingly recognize the importance of green innovation (GI) as a key strategic decision in addressing the growing concerns of stakeholders about environmental issues. Although existing literature has shed some light on the factors driving GI, limited evidence is available from the perspective of the supply chain, especially from the supply side. Our study aims to bridge this gap by investigating the association between the deconcentration of a firm's major suppliers (MSD) and its GI. We find that firms with a higher level of MSD exhibit a higher level of subsequent GI. This relationship is stronger for firms with environments where it is easier to establish trust and better human capital. After accounting for any possible endogeneity problems, our findings are still robust. Overall, our study underscores the critical role of the dispersed major supplier base in influencing GI, consistent with knowledge-based theory, and offers practical implications for managers and policymakers aiming to enhance GI.
