Abstract

Born during the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain viability theory and practice are getting increasingly important in the post-COVID era. This era is characterized by new and unprecedented challenges to supply chain and operations management because of highly volatile demand, supply, and capacities. Examples include long-term political and economic crises and long-term shortages of critical components (e.g., semiconductors). Papers in this Special Issue represent the most recent research on supply chain viability stemming from the fields of mathematical optimization under epistemic (known-unknown) and deep (unknown-unknown) uncertainty, network theory, game theory, complex adaptive systems, control theory, digital technology, and data-driven analytics. This Special Issue is an important milestone for the future development of supply chain viability knowledge.
