Hitting the ground running: When is individual performance portable?
研究个人绩效在跳槽后是否可转移,发现任务相互依赖和团队特定人力资本会加剧跳槽对绩效的负面影响,基于欧洲五大足球联赛数据。
There is mounting evidence that the portability of individual performance is low. Previous research has typically argued that mobility negatively impacts worker performance through a loss of specific human capital. In this study, I contribute to the portability literature by examining two boundary conditions of the mobility − individual performance relationship: task interdependence and the stock of team-specific human capital. Using game-level data from the ‘big five’ European football leagues, I find evidence that both task interdependence and the stock of team-specific human capital strengthen the negative impact of mobility on individual performance.
