Brexit’s ripple effect: transformations in European interregional trade
利用2010至2026年出口数据,研究英国脱欧对欧洲各地区不同商品类别出口的不对称影响,发现东欧和低生产率商品集中地区更脆弱。
Brexit has caused economic disruption and introduced new constraints, making sectors and regions either more vulnerable or more resilient. By using a novel dataset of export flows, this paper investigates the asymmetric effects of Brexit on European regions by analysing changes in regional exports across various commodity categories and considering different scenarios influenced by European trade agreements and non-tariff barriers from 2010 to 2026. The findings reveal that, beyond the UK, Eastern European regions and regions with a high concentration index in lower productivity commodities appear more susceptible to the effects of Brexit.
