Abstract

ABSTRACT This study explores the potential challenges of adopting Supply Chain 5.0 (SC 5.0) relevant to the manufacturing industries serving the masses of developing economies. The study investigates the most influential challenges and their causal association with other prioritized challenges. The study employed Grey Influence Analysis (GINA) to validate its proposal by gathering opinions from 20 experts using structured questionnaires and interviews. The panel of experts comprised academic researchers, top‐ranked executives from several manufacturing industries, and decision‐makers in supply chain management. The approach assessed the challenges based on their influence and identified their connections, differentiating between challenges that significantly influence the adoption of SC 5.0. The study reveals eight primary challenges of SC 5.0 adoption. “Digital infrastructure” emerged as the most influential, followed by “Supply chain Scalability” and “Sustainable Competitiveness.” The result interpretation reveals that, other than these, other critical challenges also play an important role in the process of SC 5.0 adoption to enable human centricity and sustainability. Further, a sensitivity analysis was performed to validate the robustness of the findings. The study offers significant insights for organizations to recognize and address the primary challenges in adopting SC 5.0. It provides a prioritized list of challenges and their interconnectedness, assisting organizations in formulating action plans that emphasize human centricity, sustainability, and resilience.
