A complex product configuration design method considering supplier risk

As the development model of complex products transitions from mass customisation to mass personalisation, the impact of supplier risks on the complexity of consumer requirements becomes increasingly significant. To address this challenge, this study proposes a novel configuration design method for complex products that explicitly integrates supplier risk assessment into the product design process. By constructing a Fuzzy Polymorphic Bayesian Network (FPBN), we evaluate the risk indicators of each supplier. Additionally, a Stackelberg-based joint configuration model and its corresponding solution algorithm are developed to balance conflicting objectives across different configuration scenarios. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through a case study involving the bogie manufacturing process of a Chinese enterprise, demonstrating its advantages. This study provides a robust framework for integrating supply chain risks into product design, supporting the transition from mass customisation to mass personalisation.
