Abstract

Purpose This study aims to examine how green knowledge sharing behavior (GKSB) mediates the relationship between green inclusive leadership (GIL) and employees’ green creativity (GC). This study also examines the moderating roles of green perceived psychological climate (GPC) and green perceived organizational support (GPOS) in the relationships among GIL, GKSB and employee GC. Design/methodology/approach Three-wave survey data were collected from 467 hotel employees. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). Findings The findings reveal that GIL has a positive influence on employees’ GC, and GKSB fully mediates the relationship between GIL and GC. Furthermore, GPC significantly strengthens the relationship between GIL and GKSB, while GPOS amplifies the relationship between GKSB and the employees’ GC. Practical implications This study indicates that GIL motivates employees to engage in GC by encouraging the sharing of green ideas, which strengthens their contributions to sustainability. Therefore, hospitality organizations may benefit from selecting and developing GIL who uphold sustainability values. Originality/value This study is one of the few empirical studies examining the link between GIL and GC in the hospitality industry of emerging economies, such as Oman.
