Abstract

This study proposes an innovative approach that integrates the classical TRIZ methodology with Artificial Intelligence (AI), broadening the scope for developing alternative and innovative technical solutions. TRIZ is used to resolve the main technical contradictions in a project. Instead, AI is exploited to translate the generic outputs of the TRIZ into specific technical solutions for the product under development. In particular, various Large Language Models (LLM) pre-trained chatbots, such as GPT-4, Gemini, You, and others, are used for this part of the method, acknowledging their advanced capabilities. This work demonstrates the practical applicability of this integration in a real-world context, suggesting its potential application across diversified technological domains (Yu et al. 2023). Based on the responses and results obtained, the discussed approach has potential, although limited to the product concept phase and preliminary project stages. However, the fusion of TRIZ and AI still emerges as a significant contribution within the discussed studies (a wheel support for skate, innovative earphones, a mini collaborative robot for educational applications, glasses for visually impaired users) and from a broader, multi-context perspective of mechanical design.
