Profiling cold chain risks through text analytics: bridging theory and real-world insights

A thorough understanding of cold chain risks (CCR) is essential for effective mitigation, yet maintaining an up-to-date understanding remains challenging. This study addresses this issue by identifying root causes, categories, and practical significance of CCR through an integrated approach combining theoretical frameworks and text analytics.A risk assessment framework is derived from a systematic literature review, followed by analysis of news articles to capture emerging and underreported CCRs. Results are summarised in the risk register table, which provides comprehensive overview of CCRs. Findings highlight the need for greater research attention to risks in the make and warehouse phases, particularly those related to organisational and management, product-related, and technology. Network community detection further reveals relationships among these risks. Overall, this study advances our understanding of CCR,strengthening the foundation for more effective risk management strategies.
